I don’t blame technology. I don’t blame social media. I don’t blame my new $500 smartphone. I blame myself.
This isn’t a post intended to bash the way we conduct business or stay connected with friends and family, but rather a personal acknowledgement of how possible it is to feel overwhelmed as a result of some of these new “normals” that we’ve created.
For the first time in my life, I feel it necessary to hit the “reset” button. Mentally, spiritually, and creatively.
My wife and I have become more “successful” than ever before in terms of finances, possessions, awards, etc., and yet we find ourselves continually restless. We glue ourselves to smartphones and computer screens all day, work like maniacs, and consistently endure an unhealthy lack of sleep. So I assume it’s appropriate to say:
“WE NEED A CHANGE.”
On June 15th, 2015 my wife and I will be flying into Dublin, IE and will be backpacking throughout Europe and Asia with a “budget travelers” mindset. We have opted to purchase a one-way ticket, and keep the itinerary loose.
PURPOSE OF THIS BLOG?
Every day for the next 365 days, starting June 16th, 2015 I will introduce myself to one new person, and learn one new person’s name. This blog is dedicated to the people that I meet, as well as a place to share the unique and inspiring stories I encounter along the way. The goal is to re-inspire myself, as well as re-inspire others to enjoy the world we live in and actually interact with other human beings. There’s a lot going on, and it shouldn’t be viewed through a 4-inch screen.
I am attaching some photos of our previous home in Nashville, as it only seems appropriate to document where we started this journey.

And so the journey begins. ….

I find that kind of “restlessness” in me too. So this is very inspiring!
