Derek was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland. He currently works for the city and helps keep its public spaces clean. When we met, he actually approached us as we were sitting down taking a rest. He told us that he’s never been to The States, but his younger sister just recently returned back to Scotland from visiting Miami, FL. He said that when she came back, she was so tan that she looked “Aborigines”! Derek is a massive Elton John fan, and was very excited to tell us how on his 60th birthday his brother-in-law threw him a surprise party where he and his wife were gifted tickets to his most recent concert in Glasgow!
