Bas (pronounced “Boss”) is studying for his Master’s degree in the UK. He is originally from southern Holland, on the border of Germany and Belgium. His girlfriend of two years, Paloma, is originally from Missouri, but has bounced between Spain and the UK while she works on her International Business degree, studying abroad. Bas has spent a decent amount of time in The States (mainly the East Coast), but has never been to California, which he can’t wait to see. He says the casual lifestyle and dress code of the West Coast seems like the perfect fit for him, and that he would especially love to spend some time in Santa Barbara, CA as well. He is fluent in Dutch, English, German and French, and can hold a decent conversation in Spanish as well. I included a picture from the dinner we had with Bas and his friends that night. We found ourselves taking shots of Grappa at a table full of Aussies, Dutch, Brits, South Africans, and fellow Americans. Everyone was so generous and welcomed us as if we’ve known each other for years!
