“Fat-Mira’s” name is in quotes because when I asked her how it was spelled, she just laughed and said “F…….. Ahh, it’s too difficult to spell! Just think of “fat”, and then “Mira.” Growing up in Bruges, Belgium she now manages several Bed and Breakfast properties in the area. She explained to me that it’s nearly impossible to survive in Bruges on a single household income (even if you hold multiple jobs), because tourism has driven the cost of living up so high. She loves working in the hospitality industry because she gets to meet new people from all over the world. On our final day spent in Bruges, it started to pour rain and the temperature rapidly decreased. When I spoke with her that morning she said, “Finally! Some good weather!” Well, I suppose that we can agree to disagree on that.
