Robert and Rose were vacationing in Barcelona, Spain, staying at the same hostel as us. Over a morning breakfast of coffee, juice, toast with jam, chorizo, and sliced cheese (a simple yet typical Spanish breakfast), we learned that Robert and Rose are both Minneapolis, MN natives and graduates of the University of Minneapolis. They are in their first years of Medical School. Robert has been traveling for the past four weeks abroad, first with family, then taking sporadic weekend trips with Rose to places like Amsterdam, Paris, and Cologne. Rose is half way through her two-month medical internship in Geneva, Switzerland. Right now she is conducting research on women’s sexual health, thoroughly enjoying the experience and the project she’s currently working on.

A funny story to share during our breakfast was when a Sylvester Stallone flick was on TV (with Spanish voice-overs, of course). We all stopped mid-conversation to hone in on the film’s climactic, edge-of-your-seat drama. The lights! The sweat! The tears! The raging crowd! The corny music! The bulging biceps! The plot: arm wrestling…
Cheers,
