Roger lives in Barcelona, Spain. He is originally from Peru. He runs a very “interesting” hostel in the area that is slightly different than what you’d expect. He recently purchased several condos, and has renovated them so that they consist of multiple smaller rooms that can be individually rented out to budget travelers. He has lived in Barcelona for the past 18 years, and is not shy about expressing that he feels it’s the best country in Europe! He is an avid music fan, and loves listening to the radio. When he picked us up from the airport, he would proudly call out the name of American artists that he recognized. It was quite inspiring to see the work ethic and emphasis towards hospitality that Roger made very apparent in regards to how he runs his business. Throughout our stay at Roger’s place, we would often see him welcoming new guests either extremely late in the evening, or early in the morning. When we parted ways with him on our last morning in Barcelona, he looked extremely tired. He then told us that throughout the duration of that weekend, he had only slept for about four hours in total. His hostel was packed everyday we were in town, so it seems that his hard work is paying off!
