We’ll keep this post short and sweet. Our encounter with Victor was not only totally random, but incredibly short-lived. We met Victor at the airport in Palma de Mallorca while we were both waiting for a flight that had delayed for almost 5 hours. While waiting for more information on our travel delays, Victor spotted the guitar I had strapped to my backpack. He spoke very little English, but simply pointed to my guitar and just kept saying “please, please, please”. I couldn’t refuse letting him play a few chords, as we were all looking for a way to pass the time. I did learn that he was from Catania, the second largest city in Sicily, and he was looking for a way to bum a cigarette (unfortunately for him, we don’t smoke). Other than that, I just let him play for a few minutes, and then he went on his way. He was very grateful. While we didn’t get to learn much about each other, I felt that it was a nice moment of our travels worth mentioning; proving that music really is “the universal language”.
Musically,
