Tunc (pictured left) and Jordan (pictured center) met two hours before this photo was taken. They know each other from their respective girlfriends (past and present), however this was the first time they had met face-to-face. Upon arriving at Tunc’s house in Zurich, Switzerland, Tunc informed us that he randomly ran into Jordan at the market, gathering ingredients for the evening’s dinner, and invited him to join us!
Tunc (pronounced Tune-ch) has been living in Zurich for the past 10 years. He is originally from Istanbul, Turkey and relocated to Switzerland to complete his Master’s Degree in Software Development and Programming. He is fluent in five languages including Turkish, English, German, Italian and French. We stayed with him in his apartment for two nights and BOTH nights Tunc prepared a three-course dinner for us that was one of the best we’ve ever had. He is an avid cook and wine enthusiast. He so generously shared his wine collection and stayed up late getting to know us better as well as filling us in on his life and endeavors. He showed us a whole new level of generosity and hospitality, even when entertaining complete strangers in our case.
Jordan is a new resident to Zurich. Having moved there two weeks before from Amsterdam, he had recently relocated for a job opportunity. A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Jordan is in the same career field as Tunc. He recently got engaged to his Italian girlfriend of six years! They plan to marry in Lisbon, Portugal next May. He said since his family still lives in Brazil and her family in Northern Italy, they thought Portugal would be a great compromise for both families. Jordan is a great story teller and incredibly funny. He too speaks five languages, including Italian, which he learned once he met his fiancé!
It was a great night of fantastic food among strangers at first, that quickly became a table of friends.
Cheers,
SA
