We met Emily on a beautiful and utterly exhausting hike in Adliswil, Switzerland. She had arrived early morning from Germany to backpack her way south along Zurich Lake, enjoying the last five days of her month-long holiday. Upon meeting, she had already logged three hours of hiking with her heavily weighted backpack containing five days worth of supplies (food, water, clothing, sleeping bag, tent, and other necessities). Born and raised in Germany, Emily has alway enjoyed outdoor activities, especially camping. She’s been a kindergarten teacher for the past three years, which allows her long summers to go exploring. She and her girlfriend had just finished up a three week excursion visiting a handful of cities throughout Germany, stopping to see friends and family along the way. She is a staunch vegan and her love for animals drives her passionate lifestyle. We hiked through a number of Swiss towns where the cows and sheep outnumbered the locals and finally parted as she arrived to her lakeside campsite. She couldn’t wait to pitch her tent and peel off her hiking boots, even if was only 3’oclock in the afternoon.
