Klaus, Dee, Mikkel, and Annette

Copenhagen, Denmark

This is the Christensen family. Dad; Klaus, daughter; Dee, son; Mikkel, and Mom; Annette. They live in the Danish town of Roskilde, Denmark, 25 minutes west of Copenhagen. The Christensen’s are one of those hard-to-find families that seem to have appeared out of a “Leave It To Beaver” episode, and I mean that in the absolute BEST way possible. Klaus, has worked as a Software Engineer since the 70’s and recently decided to change gears and experience something new later in life. He now works in the administration office of the local university and helps foreign exchange students get on their feet and feel comfortable in their new surroundings. Annette, received her Master’s Degree in her 40’s in Health and Nutrition. She works at the local hospital as a Dietitian helping her obese patients find a better route to curing their ailments through diet and teaches them how to live a healthier life. Dee is back home from living in London for the past six years. She’s worked as a freelance photographer in the music industry and found success photographing bands such as 5 Seconds to Summer and Imagine Dragons. She is now enrolled at university in Copenhagen studying Linguistics. Mikkel is also back home, for a short time, after living in Czech Republic and Spain. He is a freelance journalist, specializing in the world of Cycling.

Every night, the family has dinner together and afterwards enjoy tea and coffee in the living room. It has always been a family tradition for Klaus growing up and he made sure to carry down the tradition for his family. They warmly invited us to take part in their family “tea time” and we were able to experience a great Danish family unit in action. Everyone talked about their day and what they are working on. Klaus shared stories of his youth and everyone had the chance to decompress together.

We learned so much from this family and can’t wait to incorporate some of their traditions into ours!

Cheers,

SA
