Ifigenia

Ifigenia

Ifigenia is a university student working towards her PHD in Roskilde, Denmark. We met her while staying with friends in this lovely small town just outside of Copenhagen, and we were immediately intrigued and interested by her story. She is a native of Greece, and is undeniably passionate about the wellness and status of her homeland. As Greece continues to go through their own economic crisis, she has felt the effects of its status trickle down into her own everyday life. For example, even though she is a registered student actively pursuing her PHD, as a result of her citizenship, her Greek-issued credit cards don’t work abroad, and the amount of money that she is able to access for everyday use has been extremely limited. Despite this, however, she remains incredibly optimistic. She is currently studying molecular processes that occur during wine making, and works closely with agricultural production and supply chain management to gather useful information for her studies. Towards the end of our conversation, we asked what she planned to do after the completion of her studies. Without hesitation, she mentioned that she would be returning home to Greece. She confidently explained that while she could most likely leave the troubles of the Greek economy behind after her education, she would rather bring her knowledge back home to help her people and her country turn things around. A noble and humbling perspective from an inspiring young student!

Musically,
