Dora

Dora

We met Dora in Stockholm, Sweden. After 3 1/2 months on the road, it was finally time for a haircut! We stumbled into her modest salon during the middle of the day, and luckily I was able to jump in without an appointment. Dora (short for Theodora) is of Greek origin but was born and raised in Stockholm. Growing up, she was immersed in Greek heritage and attended “Greek School” every Saturday. Although she can speak three languages, she jokes how her Greek, Swedish and English sometimes gets tangled up in the same sentence and she’s on the brink of creating her own language, a Greeswenglish if you will. Her grandparents moved the family to Sweden in the 1950’s, shortly after the war. She’s been a stylist for roughly nine years, but has occasionally taken time off to backpack and travel. For the past three years however, she has been the owner of her very own salon in Old Town Stockholm. She is constantly busy, and has been building a steady clientele ever since she opened her doors. She runs the shop with her one-year-old black French Bulldog, “Mateo”, who is happy to greet and acknowledge any new customer. Dora was kind enough to recommend all sorts of interesting sights for us to see while in Stockholm, and happy to converse about all of her own world travels. Thanks for the haircut, Dora!

Musically,
